Abstract
This study aims to obtain empirical evidence of the relationship of Cognitive Engagement, Emotional Engagement and Emotional Exhaustion to Job Satisfaction, moderated by Cynicism. The sample of the study was 200 educators and staff in educational institutions in Yogyakarta, Central Java and East Java, Indonesia. The research sampling method is purposive sampling. All data used in this study meet the validity, reliability and normality testing requirements, so that further hypothesis testing can be done. Data analysis using Confirmatory Analysis, SEM. The findings that support the research hypothesis are: a) Emotional Engagement has a significant and positive effect on employee job satisfaction and b) Emotional Exhaustion has a significant effect on the direction of a negative relationship on job satisfaction. While the Cognitive Engagement variable has no significant effect on job satisfaction with the direction of a positive relationship. To get the support of the relationship between the independent variables and the dependent variable, moderation variables are added, namely cynicism. The moderation variable is used to strengthen or weaken the relationship between one variable and another. Findings on the role of the cynicism variable as a moderating variable indicate that: a) the Cynicism variable is able to moderate the relationship between Emotional Engagement on Job Satisfaction with positive support, and b) the cynicism variable is able to moderate the relationship between Emotional Exhaustion, with negative support.
