Abstract
To be effective, a company needs the role of leadership. Leadership is a challenging combination of technical, organizational, and political knowledge, managerial competence, political savvy, organizational vision, as well as communication and interpersonalrelationshipskills.ThepresentresearchexploredamongChiefExecutive Officer (CEO) functions, employee commitment, and economic factor toward firm performance. Using the Best CEO list from 2009–2016 taken from Swa Magazine in Indonesia, the top 36 performing public-listed companies were chosen. This study usedquantitativemethodswithlinearregressionbySPSS.CEOindexhasanegatively significant effect on Return on Asset (ROA), while pioneer index and commitment have a positively significant effect on ROA. Age, tenure and CEO education have no positive impact on ROA
